The Natural Approach to Your Health & Wellness
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. These important functions are controlled by the brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves of the body.
The skull protects the delicate tissues of the brain. The moving bones of the spine protect protect the vulnerable communication pathways of the spinal cord and nerve roots. If the nervous system is impaired, it can cause malfunction of the tissues and organs throughout the body. Doctors call this Vertebral Subluxation Complex. Vertebral, meaning the bones of the spine. Subluxation, meaning less than a total dislocation. And Complex, meaning consisting of more than one part.
Chiropractic is the science of locating malfunctioning spinal structures, the art of reducing their impact to the nervous system, and the philosophy that, when working properly, the body has the potential to heal itself.
What is A Chiropractic Adjustment?
A Chiropractic Adjustment is the art of using a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is fixated, "locked up", or not moving properly. This adds motion to the joint, helping the bones gradually return to a more normal position and motion. The purpose of this safe and natural procedure is improved spinal function, improved nervous system function, and improved health.
There are many ways to adjust the spine. To the right are a list of the techniques Dr. Hutchison specializes in. Depending on the condition you present with, Dr. Hutchison will decide which technique is best suited to treat your specific condition. Sometimes, more then one technique may be utilized for the condition.

Cox-Flexion Technic
Only 1% of Chiropractic physicians are certified in the Cox Technic. This technique is gentle, safe & research-based. It has been shown to relieve pain associated with many different conditions related to spinal stenosis, disc herniations (neck, mid-back or low back) or extremity pain.

Diversified
Diversified is the most common technique used by chiropractors. It is a manual adjustment technique used to correct misaligned or subluxated spinal segments of the neck and back. It is primarily the use of the practitioner's hands to make the spinal correction. Many times an audible snap or pop will be heard as the correction is made. The noise that is made is called cavitation; which is caused by decreased pressure inside the joint creating a bubble of gas, which makes a noise as it bursts. Diversified adjustments can be the quickest, most efficient way to get movement happening in a joint and is a very important treatment style.

Activator
The Activator Method has evolved from 25 years of study and 10 years of clinical research. This technique uses an instrument to give consistent low-force, high-speed chiropractic adjustments.
This technique is useful for patient's with osteoperosis or as an alternative to manual adjustments. It can be used to treat numerous conditions including: neck, mid-back and low back pain, headaches, sinus conditions and more.

Thompson
The Thompson technique utilizes a "Segmental Drop Table" to enhance the motion force imparted towards the segment or area to be adjusted. The "Drop" system takes advantage of the spines inherent design of the joints in order to move the spinal segment in the direction that will improve the motion of the segment with the one above and below.
This technique can be especially useful in the treatment of patient's that are not as mobile in the standard diversified adjusment. This technique was invented by Dr. Thompson and eventually the concept was patent in 1955 and utilized ever since as a main adjusting technique by chiropractors.
